You may apply on line. To do so, go to the Online Teacher Application page.
Since the MTC is part of BYU, BYU student applicants are given first preference in the selection of MTC teachers. However, non-BYU students are hired if needs exist that cannot be filled by BYU students.
Teachers receive a generous starting wage. They are also eligible for a wage increase after four months of excellent performance as a teacher.
As mandated by BYU, student employees may not exceed 20 work hours per week.
Typically there are a number of openings for teachers at the beginning of BYU semesters/terms, especially Fall Semester. However, teachers can be needed at any time. Apply whenever you have an interest in teaching at the MTC. Your application will then be on file and you can be contacted when there is an opening for you.
Applicants interested in starting a teaching position when BYU Fall Semester begins need to apply in July or early August. It takes considerable time to complete the application and selection processes for filling the many teacher openings at that time. In addition, the hiring and training of new teachers are completed before school begins for the semester.
Teacher applications are kept for one year.
The rating session provides teacher applicants the opportunity to demonstrate effective teaching skills.
Student openings for all positions except teacher (Cafeteria, Bookstore, Custodial, etc.) are posted by BYU Student Employment. Selection and hiring are handled on the BYU campus. Only MTC teachers are hired at the MTC. Full-time positions are posted on the web at BYU Job Opportunities.
